Patriot Memory pushes performance to the limit at Computex 2024

Jak Connor | Storage | Jun 11, 2024 12:10 AM CDT

Patriot is no stranger to pushing performance to the absolute limit, and Computex 2024 was no exception. The company has shown why it's a global leader in high-performance memory, storage, and more.

Patriot Memory pushes performance to the limit at Computex 2024

Patriot has introduced a new era of speed when it comes to DDR5 memory by pushing its Viper Xtreme 5 series to an astonishing 8,200 MT/s and 11,500 MT/s when overlocked. Patriot told me that this new overlocking benchmark has enabled a new level of speed that is now being adopted by overclockers around the world and has resulted in new records being set in various configurations.

The company also presented a new collaboration with MSI with the Viper Xtreme 5 RGB DDR5 MPOWER series, which has specifically been designed for gamers and overlockers. The new series is capable of reaching 8,000 MT/s and capacities up to 48GB. This combination of speed and capacity will provide gamers and workstation rigs the performance they are looking for when wanting to go as fast as humanly possible.

Antec impresses with its new cases: the C8 Curve, Flux Pro, and compact Performance 1M

Kosta Andreadis | Cases, Cooling & PSU | Jun 10, 2024 11:56 PM CDT

At Computex 2024, Antex showcased several very cool cases and cooling products, with its newest offerings impressing us the most. From the stunning fishbowl design with the curved glass of the C8 Curve to the retro-futuristic Flux Pro and the new mini-ITX prototype, the Performance 1M - Antec's cases for 2024 look very tasty.

Antec impresses with its new cases: the C8 Curve, Flux Pro, and compact Performance 1M

The C8 Curve is the latest addition to Antec's C8 series. The Curve in the name refers to it featuring curved tempered glass that wraps around the side and front panel. Antec hasn't specified its pricing yet, but we expect it to be the high-end model in the company's well-priced C8 series of cases.

This was easily one of the best-looking cases at Computex, thanks to the curve, mesh top panel, and woodgrain finish on the front. Spec-wise, it's a dual chamber case big enough to house a full water-cooled setup with three 360mm radiators. Antec plans to ship the case without fans (which should bring the price down).

Enermax announces new ATX 3.1 power supplies at Computex 2024

Enermax has showcased a new series of ATX 3.1 power supplies at Computex that cover multiple efficiency levels and impressive wattages. More specifically, Enermax showcased the new MaxTytan Digital 1650W 80PLUS Titanium that flexes a semi-fanless design that Enermax explained to me is optimized for both performance and acoustics. The fan on the MaxTytan Digital 1650W only kicks in when the power supply is at 60% load and has a built-in wattage display on the rear side for users to monitor the total load.

Additionally, Enermax said the MaxTytan Digital 1650W 80PLUS Titanium can reach up to 2400W at 80PLUS Gold efficiency. Moving up to the 80PLUS Platinum efficiency, Enermax introduced a crazy 2400W variant that has a chassis depth of 18cm. The 2400W variant is designed to support multiple graphics cards, and also features the intelligent semi-fanless design, enabling near-silent operation at low to medium loads.

Lian Li unveils new intuitive EDGE PSU series at Computex 2024

Jak Connor | Cases, Cooling & PSU | Jun 10, 2024 11:27 PM CDT

Computex 2024 has wrapped up, and Lian Li, just like every year, has some interesting new products to showcase.

Lian Li unveils new intuitive EDGE PSU series at Computex 2024

Lian Li gave me a tour of their booth in Taipei and demoed to me their new EDGE power supply series, which has put a new spin on what could be the most unchanged aspect of a PC build - power supplies. Lian Li has implemented a new L-shaped design that enables much easier access to the PSU for cable connections. This change actually earned Lian Li a TweakTown award, as it was the much-needed change the PSU industry needed.

More specifically, the EDGE PSU series comes with an 80 Plus Platinum efficiency rating, with the EG850 being rated at 80 Plus Gold. As you can probably imagine, the entire series of new PSUs is fully modular and comes with sleeved cables and connectors. Additionally, Lian Li has implemented a 12VHPWR connector design. I was told on the showroom floor that some models will arrive in black and white color options, with the EG850 Mesh model launching soon in just black for $119.99, the 1300W model in black for $229.99, and $239.99 for white.

Xbox unveils Age of Mythology: Retold in new epic nostalgia-triggering trailer

Jak Connor | Gaming | Jun 10, 2024 11:17 PM CDT

Microsoft has recently wrapped up its Xbox Games Showcase where it announced a slew of new titles it currently has in the works under its multiple labels.

Xbox unveils Age of Mythology: Retold in new epic nostalgia-triggering trailer

One of the titles Xbox showcased during its show is a franchise that is more than 20 years old, and that is Age of Mythology (AOE). originally developed by Ensemble Studios, SkyBox Labs, and Westlake Interactive in 2002, the iconic real-time strategy game took players deep into the world of mythological stories by enabling players to embody gods that fell under different ancient pantheons.

For example, players could select from Norse gods, Thor, Odin, and Loki, while also having the option of choosing from Greek gods, Egyptian and Atlantean. Choosing a certain god gave the player a different build for the upcoming ages they would move through as their civilization advanced. For example, if a player were to choose Zeus, they may be gifted with a Pegausus, while Hades players' infantry will have higher defense and damage.

NVIDIA hits record-breaking $3 trillion market cap, each NVIDIA employee is worth over $100M

NVIDIA stock has increased by over a whopping 3224% in the last 5 years, with the company splitting its stock 10-to-1 later this month. NVIDIA isn't the only one in the $3 trillion+ milestone club, with Apple hitting $3 trillion in market cap during intraday trading in January 2022, while Microsoft hit $3 trillion in January 2024.

It was only back in February 2024 that NVIDIA reached a $2 trillion market cap... and now, just months later, another $1 trillion has been added for the glorious milestone of $3+ trillion. This is all with the current-gen Hopper H100 AI GPU absolutely dominating -- with estimates that NVIDIA has 90%+ of the AI GPU market share -- with the beefed-up H200 AI GPU coming soon, and the next-gen Blackwell GPU architecture coming soon.

Corsair announces crazy Xeneon OLED ultrawide gaming monitor at Computer 2024

Computex 2024 was inundated with artificial intelligence-related products, but amongst the new AI products coming to market, there were a few new gaming monitor announcements that may have slipped past many people's radars. One of those gaming monitors is Corsair's 34WQHD240-C, which was on display at the company's suite in Taipei, and I was lucky enough to get it demoed. The 34WQHD240-C uses Quantum Dot OLED technology, or a QD-OLED panel, which has become commonplace for new gaming monitors coming to market.

However, Corsair has specifically tuned the 34WQHD240-C with its own specifications, writing in its announcements the 34WQHD240-C will come with a glossy coating that will reduce glare when bright light sources are in the background. Additionally, the 34WQHD240-C will have a native resolution of 3440 x 1440 across 34 inches, making its pixel density 110 PPI, or pixels per inch. Furthermore, the 34WQHD240-C has a refresh rate of 240Hz and comes with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium support.
